Case study · LineCheck

Every traveler has asked the same thing:
how long's the line?

LineCheck is a concept I built because airport waits are a guessing game. Travelers who just walked through security know the answer. So why not let them tell the next person?

  • 50+US airports at launch
  • 15 secto send a report
  • 0accounts or app downloads
Why I built it

The best info is in the heads of people who just left.

Official wait times are vague and flight apps don't know about the mess at checkpoint B. But a traveler who just got through knows exactly.

LineCheck turns that into a quick report by airport, terminal, checkpoint or area, so the next person can plan their timing.

“Good tools answer one question really well. This one answers: should I leave now?”

What it is, in one line: a crowdsourced airport wait and flow reporting tool, built as a launch-ready concept.

LineCheck: Reporting
Reporting

Quick to send, hard to spam.

A report takes seconds with no account. To keep junk out, there's a tap-the-words sequence check, a honeypot, timing checks, duplicate filtering and server-side validation.

Spam protection that doesn't punish real people.

  • No-account reporting
  • Sequence check instead of a CAPTCHA
  • Honeypot and timing checks
  • Duplicate filtering

Honest about the limits

The site explains how estimates work and when data is thin, and the launch metrics are marked as placeholders.

LineCheck: Reading
Reading

Fresh reports beat fancy guesses.

Older reports count less, and stale data is labeled clearly. If there aren't enough recent reports, it says so instead of making something up.

Search an airport by code or city and see the busiest areas first.

  • Weighted by recency
  • Stale data labeled
  • Airport search
  • Busiest areas list
  • FAQ on how estimates work
On your phone

Nobody checks airport lines from a desk.

It's built for standing in a rideshare line or walking out of security: large text, high contrast and a report button that's always close.

Good questions

Before you ask me.

Is LineCheck live data?

It's a crowdsourced concept: estimates come from recent traveler reports, weighted toward the newest ones.

Do I need an account to report?

No. Reports are quick and anonymous, protected by spam checks instead of sign-ups.

How do you stop fake reports?

A sequence check, honeypot, timing checks, duplicate filtering and server-side validation.

Can you build a crowdsourced tool for my idea?

Yes. LineCheck shows the pattern: quick reporting, spam protection and honest data labels.

Got an idea for a tool people need?

If you've got a 'somebody should build this' idea, let's talk about building it.

I do web, you do you.
